چکیده

The Group Allocation Multiple Access with Collision Detection (GAMA/CD) protocol for scheduling variable-length packet transmissions in a local area network is speciied and analyzed. GAMA/CD provides the advantages of both TDMA and CSMA/CD by maintaining a dynamically-sized cycle that varies in length depending on the network load; each cycle is composed of a contention period and a group-transmission period. During the contention period, a station with one or more packets to send competes for membership in the transmission group. Once a member of the transmission group, a station is able to send data without collision during each cycle; as long as a station has data to send, it maintains its position in the group. This can be viewed as either allowing stations to \share the oor" in an organized manner, or as establishing frames that are not synchronized on a slot-basis and vary their length dynamically based on demand. Both the throughput and the delay of GAMA/CD are presented and analyzed. To validate our analysis, the results of both models are compared to the throughput and delay produced by a simulation of GAMA/CD.

A Fair Power Allocation for Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access in the Power Domain

This paper presents an investigation on the performance of the Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in the power domain scheme. A Power Allocation (PA) method is proposed from NOMA throughput expression analysis. This method aims to provide fair opportunities for users to improve their performance. Thus, NOMA users can achieve rates higher than, or equal to, the rates obtained with the convent...

A Channel Access Protocol for Multihop Wireless Networks with Multiple Channels

The Group Allocation Multihop Multiple Access (GAMMA) protocol is presented; this protocol schedules data traffic over a multihop, multi-channel, wireless network. GAMMA provides excellent performance and remains stable under all network load levels by dividing the channel into cycles; each cycle is composed of a combination of contention and data slots. Every station in the network has a uniqu...

Novel MAC protocol with idle detection for all-optical WDM ring networks

A novel media access control (MAC) protocol named carrier sense multiple access with idle detection (CSMA/ID) is proposed to handle variable-length packets over an all-optical ring network. To evaluate optimal utilization of channel bandwidth, we study packet scheduling based on three transmitting queue discipline (TQD) architectures and four idle space allocation (ISA) algorithms with regard t...

Group Allocation Multiple Access in Single-Channel Wireless LANs

The Group Allocation Multiple Access (GAMA) protocol for scheduling variable-length packet transmissions in a single-hop packet-radio network is specified and analyzed. By maintaining a dynamically-sized cycle that changes in length depending on the amount of network traffic, GAMA is able to provide the advantages of both TDMA and CSMA. Each cycle contains a contention period and a group-transm...

Bandwidth Efficiency in Mac Protocol for Ad Hoc Network

Bandwidth, power and collision are considered as three important resources in wireless networks. Therefore, how to manage these resources becomes a effect on wireless ad hoc network. These effects are not present in wire line networks, and evaluation of available bandwidth in wireless networks a difficult task. Furthermore, in wireless medium the available resources also vary with the protocol ...
